Title: Indigo

Date: 1993
Description:

This piece has been one of the most popular wolf images in the U.S. since its release in '93. “Indigo” was an actual Timberwolf who stayed in a reserve of protected Rocky Mountain wood lands outside of Woodland Park, Colorado. Mr. Merrick would often visit the reserve for doing photos and sketches of the various wolves that had found safe haven there. Indigo was the 'alpha' of his clan, and fathered several puppies. The artist and Indigo eventually became good friends, and it was that relationship which opened doors for other paintings of the other, naturally cautious members of that family. The piece is a grand 39”x 27” and is signed personally by the artist.
